Rene Levesque: Sex Machine

I was dating this woman Linda during the first season of White Label Humour. Linda was this tall, lithe, beautiful, elegant woman who had a thing for Quebec's former Première Rene Levesque. In her dorm room, at the University of Western Ontario, she kept a framed photo of him on her desk. One day a dorm mate was looking at the photo and asked "Is that your dad?" I found it funny that a student of one of Canada's better "Ivy League class" universities could not recognize an important contemporary political leader. So much for the quality of higher ed.

Eventually, Rene Levesque died. It's the fate of all mortals, including separatists. Picking up on the theme of Linda's faux attraction for Rene, I decided to pen a little song in tribute to the man, the legend, his little spoken of sexual prowess, and his death. I believe the lyrics were sung in duet fashion, with Terry and my sister Lisa (aka Lisa Turbo) doing vocals. Terry also played guitar. At some point, during the musical bridges, Dave would shout "Ou est mon Lucky Strikes!"

Rene Levesque: Sex Machine

By Karl Mamer

Rene Levesque, you were a sex machine

Rene Levesque, you made all the women scream

Rene Levesque, you made the West see red

Rene Levesque, but now you're dead

Rene Levesque, why didn't you marry me?

Rene Levesque, because you know I voted Oui

Rene Levesque, what was it that they said?

Rene Levesque, you dressed like an unmade bed.

(Dave shouting "Ou est mon Lucky Strikes!")

Rene Levesque, you were a sex machine

Rene Levesque, you made all the women scream

Rene Levesque, you made the West see red

Rene Levesque, but now you're dead

Rene Levesque, you had such political flair

Rene Levesque, you had long strands of greasy hair

Rene Levesque, we loved the cigarette

Rene Levesque, now my love is arête.

(Dave shouting "Je demandez un societe justice!")

Rene Levesque, you were a sex machine

Rene Levesque, you made all the women scream

Rene Levesque, you made the West see red

Rene Levesque, but now you're dead

Rene Levesque, why did you leave?

Rene Levesque, when I shouted Vive Le Quebec Libre
